Overall not to rusty, it will need floors, quarter skins, dash, outer wheel houses and trunk drop offs. Pretty common items and not hard to replace.
-
I fired up the old sand blaster unit and 4 hours later this is what I ended up with. Normally I would have put it in our rotisserie but it is currently in use.
-
The doors and rockers are in really good shape. The inner and outer fenders are good as is the trunk and hood.
-
The gas tank however will be replaced, for a 100.00 dollars I can get a new one, this one cannot be saved.
-
I sprayed the trunk and inside the doors with POR, later I will top coat the trunk with the proper splatter paint.
-
I set about the first floor patch to be installed, pretty much straight forward cut and weld with just a small fab job to patch the toe kick.
-
I then cut the new floor to match and welded it into place. Quick grind down of the weld and there it is, done.
-
I have stared to remove the forward edge of the dash which reveled what most 30+ year old Chevy dashes look like. All in all, not unexpected.
