If I'm going to resurrect this one I am going to have some fun and build something truly wild.

  • Ok, so now I got a hold of a '73 GT that is pretty rusty, very close to heading to the scrap yard.

  • First step was to remove the old 1.9L 4 cylinder original engine. It still ran well but at 96 hp it lacked the power I wanted.

  • Transmission was a standard 4 speed the still shifted well but would be no match for what I wanted to do.

  • Next I had to construct a new cross member to support the new V6 I would be installing.

  • While there may be better designs, this will hold nicely....... I hope.

  • Some test fitting to check clearance and the center line fit as well as the header spacing. This engine came from a '91 Camaro and will be a tight fit.

  • The headers are off a V6 Fiero and will be swapped side for side, I learned this from members of the online forum I belong to, I cant cay enough about how valuable they have been to me. Check them out in the Resources page.

  • Remember how I said this car was close to scrap? Here are some pics of how bad it was.

  • Here I decided to have some more fun with the gauges, I custom built a new pod that would incorporate a Camaro gauge set to make matching the engine easier. Later I will probably make one with digital gauges and improve on any design flaws I find with this set up.
