Dan wanted his awesome FJ40 repainted from red to a pearl green metalic. The truck had been repainted at one point but they never bothered to disassemble it all the way down.

We pulled it all apart and were left with a decision, to remove the engine to paint the firewall or raise the body up off the frame. We opted to raise the body.

Similar to a jeep the FJ40 comes apart relatively easy for the most part.

As evidenced by the brake booster and under it, the last paint job was a bit lazy.

The dash was also stripped for paint and as you can see the trucks original green was visable.

More sloppy work, you can see where the two panels bolted together. No paint under them.

Slight bubbling and a hint of rust was removed and an acid etch applied to stop it cold.

More acid etch primer on all mating surfaces.

The firewall gets the paint first.

Dash looks good in green.
