  • Dan wanted his awesome FJ40 repainted from red to a pearl green metalic. The truck had been repainted at one point but they never bothered to disassemble it all the way down.

  • We pulled it all apart and were left with a decision, to remove the engine to paint the firewall or raise the body up off the frame. We opted to raise the body.

  • Similar to a jeep the FJ40 comes apart relatively easy for the most part.

  • As evidenced by the brake booster and under it, the last paint job was a bit lazy.

  • The dash was also stripped for paint and as you can see the trucks original green was visable.

  • More sloppy work, you can see where the two panels bolted together. No paint under them.

  • Slight bubbling and a hint of rust was removed and an acid etch applied to stop it cold.

  • More acid etch primer on all mating surfaces.

  • The firewall gets the paint first.
