  • So my neighbor wanted a cool truck project, and had to be from the 40's. Another friend I know was selling this 49, so it was a done deal.

  • The truck actually runs quiet well in spite of the way it looks.

  • Definitely some work here but a very savable truck and worth the effort it will take to get it back to good.

  • The wood floors are a nice touch..... not.

  • So far not to bad, a few broken bolts but most came out.

  • Now for the fun part, a 1994 S-10 donor truck. From this we will be using the frame, steering column, brake booster and master cylinder as well as the pedals, and anything else that might come in handy.

  • First, as always, we sandblasted the entire truck. Here I am showing only the cab, we will get to the rest later. We wanted to get the cab finished so we can begin to fit the S-10 frame under it.

  • Some pretty bad rot, but with a few new panels and some trick ones we will make ourselves this should be no problem.

  • Cab corners and the center of the rear of the cab are bad.

  • We begin by removing only the bad part of the original cab.

  • The same procedure for the other side. That's Doug, deciding how much of the inner needs to be removed.

  • POR on the areas that will be hard to get at later.

  • Doug removed the rusted area on the cab.

  • Here is the replacement metal being closely fitted so the welding will go much easier.

      » Click to zoom ->
  • Super magnets are used to hold the metal in place and they work quite well.

      » Click to zoom ->
  • All welded in and ready for some finishing touches.
